Innovate Finance launched its East Coast FinTech programme in New York last week.
Through a series of events we convened the local FinTech community with visitors from the UK through workshops and roundtables to discuss the challenges and opportunities for the sector.
Innovate Finance launched its programme with a reception at the Museum Of American Finance. The event gathered over 150+ decision makers and influences within the US and UK FinTech communities to celebrate the launch of the programme and to discuss how to shape the future of FinTech on both sides of the Atlantic.
Among the highlights of the week was a roundtable with Finovate and FinTech futures, which explored the emerging RegTech agenda. It was an opportunity to discuss the potential benefits of RegTech adoption and any regulatory barriers that exist in the USA and UK.
The Transatlantic Policy Working Group (TPWG) on 8th September in New York discussed the group’s response to the OCC paper on Innovation in Federal Banking, heard from the FCA Innovation Hub on how to build an innovative regulatory environment, and sought to understand the role RegTech could play to deliver regulatory requirements for effectively.
The team also conducted a blockchain and capital markets regulation research roundtable and met with major media outlets including the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Business Insider and Fast Company.
The week ended with a ‘Capital Connections’ roundtable, which provided members with an opportunity to learn and engage with leading decision makers from the FinTech community.
We would like to thank everyone involved in ensuring this week was a success, including the FCA, the New York Partnership Fund, our strategic partners Hogan Lovells and freuds and our member Xignite for sponsoring our launch event!
